Road to Hana

This is the first of two post I will make on the road to Hana.
On Wednesday, April 1st., we drove the road to Hana. Hana, is a small town on the northern tip of Maui. The road is 50 miles of breath taking beauty. It is a narrow road that wanders along the coast with elevations from sea level to 2000'. You cross more than 50 one lane bridges and several stretches of road that are also accessible to only one car at a time.
Much of the time you are passing through a rain forest where the road is completely covered by forest canopy. Awesome. Believe it or not, it takes close to two hours to drive the 50 miles. Most of the time the speed limit is 15 mph, with lots of 10 and a few 5 mph areas. And when the sign says 10 mph, it means it. The curves are tight and the road is often wet. Much of our drive was done in a light drizzle, which is normal for that rain forest.
I will have another post tomorrow.
